It's only been five years...

Well, it's been almost 5 1/2 years now since our lovely vintage style wedding. I love this picture of us, so many wonderfully bright things to come our way and we didn't even know it then.

Recently I was inspired to start scrapbooking my wedding album again. This lovely artist I found over at flickr, tara anderson, is the source for my most recent scrapbooking inspiration. Her pages are just amazing!

I really thought this page out. I left it to sit out in my craft room for about a week, moving pieces around, until I settled them into one spot and glued. That brooch has been around for a few months now. Found it at a flea market near Mt. Dora and have waited for a great reason to use it. Never thinking I would keep it for myself, but I'm so glad I did. The buttons are a funny story because they were tucked way in the back of an over crowded antique store in Mt. Dora. I fell in love with at least 3 sheets full of buttons. When I went to pay for them at the counter, to my embarassment, I learned that they were around $4-$8 a button, not for the whole sheet! The grand total was around $150 and I said, "no thank you." Because of my flushed face and embarassment, I bought these two.

Now, on to more designing. I will post as I go along and accomplish one page at a time.

Look at those Boots!

I just had to include this on my blog. I LOVE that smile and those boots. Recently, Stink Bone Jones has decided he would like to wear his rain boots around the house. Needless to say, I run around behind him snapping pictures. I've decided to start a little journal, accordian style from Martha Stewart, of him and his boots. One Ripe Peach is going to make me wonderfully cute tags for his little journal. I cannot wait!

And the "A Happy Blog" award goes to....

Sweet Eye Candy Creations, of course! I have posted my personal favorite creations from this wonderful artist, Jennifer Hayslip. Her blog and shop were one of my first delightful discoveries in the blogosphere (is that a word?(. Popped full of color, wonderfully bright pieces, and whimsical creations describe Jenn's Cottage Candy style. Her shadowboxes are among my favorite! I love the vintage pieces mixed in with the bright candy like colors. She certainly has been an artistic inspiration for me!

A Happy Blog Award

Lately and too often, I've been blog cruising. I have to admit this has become quite an additction, searching over all of these amazing blogs. What did we ever do without the Internet? I often think I am wasting time but am I really? I find the most wonderful ideas that inspire me to create more vividly. From my blog explorations I've learned not to be afraid of using too much and in fact I'm using too little in my designs. Over the top is a good thing in the cottage world and so I am pushing myself beyond my comfy zone. I cannot wait to share my very first blog to be awarded the "A Happy Blog" award. I'm sure you can tell from the title that this type of blog inspires and leaves you with a Happy feeling. Check back to see who I've chosen!

Little Miss Drama Queen

In French of course. I recently made this little confection and finally put my german glass glitter to good use. I've only had it for two months now. I've been so swamped with local orders (not complaining) but just itching to create some very girly paper and vintage inspired products. This little delicate sign was put together with crepe paper, a vintage brooch from Good Will, seam binding from the Sally, german glass glitter, scrapbook papers, chipboard, and cardstock. She is only priced at $10 in my Etsy Shop.

A Parisian Winner

I have a winner for my Paris Banner. I'm a few days late in choosing. My husband chose a number between 1-29 and he chose 20. Alisa, from Alisa Jane and Life is a Beautiful Place to be is the winner! I've participated in a swap with Alisa and I know she will love my banner.

Awwww, Blog Therapy

Being that I've only just turned 30, I highly doubt that I have the onset of Alzheimer's. But, I find myself tidying my way from room to room, wondering... "what did I come in this room for?" I usually say this out loud, hoping that I might answer myself. A few seconds pass before I figure out what I came into this room to get or do OR not. If I have the awakening moment it leads to the other three or four tasks that I am simultaneously performing all while hoping that my two year old isn't eating week old cheerios from underneath the couch cushions.
Just today I found that I started a pile of laundry (husband's work uniforms that I've been asking him to sort through and weed out the ones no longer fitting which ended up becoming one of my gazillion organization tasks) only to find myself called into the living room by a 6 lb. chihuahua and a 26 lb. child fighting over animal crackers. Mind you, the animal crackers are partly hanging out of Christan's mouth purposely to tempt Lola into taking a bite and I cringe. As we all know, dog's do lick their own butts and I would prefer that Christian not share the food in his mouth with the dog. This is where my early Alzheimer's comes into play. I could not for the life of me remember which task I was performing before I was interupted by a boy and his dog. On my way to rediscovering the chore at hand I picked up a few more only to become buried in more housework. I did find the laundry and was so happy, yes happy, that I found what I had forgotten. Even though what was found happend to be some wet work pants hanging out of the dryer with the rest of the load still in the washer.
It is a relief that I most likely do not have Alzheimer's. I have a two year old, a husband, a chihuahua, two half read books waiting on me to finish, another one to start for a book club, a rosary to pray, friends to call back or e-mail, play dates to schedule, closets to finish organizing, garage sale items that didn't sell to take to Brother's Keeper, an itty bitty house swap to finish and mail priority mail because I don't want to be late on my deadline, two shirts to paint for a lovely Etsy customer, clothes to fold, bathrooms to clean, a world to save because I am a woman, parents to visit, an exercise workout, plants to plant, dinner to prepare, and one story of Good Night Moon to read and reread before bedtime. Did I take a shower today?
