Stink Bone Jones celebrated his 3rd birthday recently by having a wonderful train party. It was a mix of Thomas the Train and vintage. I wish I had a sample of his birthday invitation to share. I think I will have to scan one so that you can see it because they were that cute!
I decided to do a red vintage polka dot flocked paper for the banner and party favors. I then followed into that theme with his 3rd year train track pictures you will see here. I painted peat pots blue and added tissue garland fringe. The handle is a sparkly pipe cleaner. The outside of the pots are decorated with the same papers as the banner and a number 3 for track 3 and his age. I also made a sign for the front door that is now on his bedroom door, picture to follow The train track pictures were actually taken on the evening of his birthday. I will also add party pictures as I finish editing them in Photoshop.
Stink Bone was too funny when people started showing up. I don't think he realized until that point he was having a party with friends. Everytime the doorbell rang, he ran to the door trying to open it. Then, when we sang "Happy Birthday" to him later in the day, his face was priceless. As you will see, he was a bit shy about it an could not believe that everyone was singing to him. I imagine next year will be even more fun!
The day was filled with crayons, playdoh, swinging and sliding, bubbles, cake, ice cream, and popsicles. It was a bit hot outside...I think in the 90's. Regardless the kids were full of juice boxes and popsicles and I don't think they noticed.
Get a kick out of Stink Bone's face, it is full of dirt!
My very talented mother made the cake of course. We went online to look at Thomas the Train cake images and I chose this one. She did an incredible job. It tasted as good as it looks!
The train tracks are always fun for Stink Bone because he gets to stand on real train tracks. We kept looking for a piece of coal but none was to be found. Last time we found a real piece that he carries all over the house. It most recently ended up in the bathtub! Needless to say, he didn't want to leave the tracks. He wanted to walk further down the tracks away from the car.

Priceless! Hands down!
I love your son's ears! Little son's, well and big ones too are wonderful and such blessings. Life is very interesting with a son :) Do you agree? :)
I was wondering how his nickname came to be? "Stinker" was a big cute name when I was young and always used in an affectionate way :)
Both you and your Mom did a fantastic job! The guests must have been so honored to take home their treat buckets! Oh, think I saw a movie where they used to take there dinner and lunch with them in a bucket to work the train.
..***Happy Birthday***.. To your SON!
Hugs,
Mary
